Whitebark | Mammoth Lakes, California

Whitebark is a 175-seat grill restaurant and bar that opened within the Westin Monache Resort Hotel. The design is inspired by the rich history of the Mammoth area: its logging legacy and proximity to Yosemite National Park, Mono Lake, and Devils Postpile National Monument. The interior echoes the beauty of the eastern slope of the Sierras and the immediate recreational amenities of Mammoth Lakes. These elements are reflected in the materials which include recycled lumber, cold-rolled steel, rough-milled bar tops, cable-hung granite rock, a rough log fireplace surround, and wallpaper made from digitally altered topographic maps. The materials are combined to create a contemporary, rustic, alpine atmosphere that is versatile and inviting.
